On Wednesday, 28th January 2026, Mother of Many (MOM) Foundation paid its second official visit to Tema Secondary School to formally present a request to implement the GreenSprout Project—a Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) initiative and the second partnership program between MOM Foundation and Sidiq Agri-Farms (SAF).

The delegation was warmly received by the school’s leadership, including Mrs. Lucy Okai Naih (Headmistress), Mr. Robert Narh Adjabeng (Assistant Head, Academic), Mr. Emmanuel Odonkor (Head of the Science Department), and Madam Betty Adjoa Dompreh (Scripture Union Patron). Following a productive discussion, the school formally approved the commencement of the GreenSprout Project, marking an important milestone in promoting sustainable agriculture education in Ghanaian high schools.

During the meeting, Sidiq, Founder of Sidiq Agri-Farms, shared the personal journey that sparked his passion for agriculture. Growing up, he observed his father work tirelessly on the farm using basic tools—an experience that revealed both the importance of agriculture and the limitations of traditional farming methods. This inspired his mission to make agriculture smarter, easier, and more attractive to young people, ensuring its relevance for future generations.

Madam Catherine, Founder of MOM Foundation, also shared the evolution of the organization. What began as partnerships with UK-based schools to donate educational items—such as books, furniture, laboratory equipment, stationery, and computers—to under-resourced Ghanaian schools has now grown into a bold commitment to sustainable, impact-driven projects that go beyond material support.

About the GreenSprout Project

The GreenSprout Project is a youth-centered, climate-smart agricultural education initiative designed to convert unused school land into productive farms. The project aims to revive students’ interest in agriculture through hands-on learning while supporting school feeding programs with fresh vegetables. At Tema Secondary School, the proposed plan involves cultivating tomatoes, onions, peppers, and leafy vegetables on approximately half an acre of land, with technical guidance provided by SAF agronomists at no cost to the school, aside from access to land and water.

The project aims to bridge the gap between theoretical agricultural science education and real-world modern practice while contributing to food security under Ghana’s Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy. Expected outcomes include practical climate-smart farming skills for students, reduced feeding costs through on-site vegetable production, job creation, and the development of a scalable model that can be replicated in schools across Ghana.

Site Assessment and Next Steps

Following the meeting, the Head of the Science Department led the team on a site visit to assess the available land and implementation feasibility. While access to a reliable water supply was identified as the primary challenge, the school has officially granted permission for land use, allowing the project to proceed.

The next step is the submission of a detailed implementation plan, after which the project will be formally launched. Tema Secondary School will become the debut beneficiary of the GreenSprout Project.

A Historic Beginning

MOM Foundation is particularly proud to begin this initiative at Tema Secondary School, a historic institution built by the Government of Ghana under the leadership of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. This partnership represents a powerful blend of heritage, innovation, and sustainability—planting seeds today for a greener, food-secure, and climate-resilient future.

MOM Foundation remains optimistic about the impact of the GreenSprout Project and expresses sincere gratitude to the school’s leadership for their cooperation and support.
